FEI photoA Golden German Double - 08/13/2008 - Germany took individual and team gold at the Olympic Eventing finale at Sha Tin stadium in Hong Kong this evening, but not without a terrific battle to the very last. The Australians challenged for the team honours with all of their might, but had to settle for silver while the British stood firm to take bronze, and it was Hinrich Romeike and the extraordinary Marius who won through to take the individual title head of America's Gina Miles and McKinlaigh, with Britain's Tina Cook on Miners Frolic claiming individual bronze. Kemmer Throws Down German Gauntlet; Courtney King-Dye Third after First Day of Grand Prix - 08/13/2008 - Germany's Heike Kemmer and Bonaparte threw down the gauntlet when producing a superb test to take the individual lead after the first session of the Dressage Team Grand Prix at Sha Tin on Wednesday night. And her dominant performance suggests that her nation's team record at Olympic Games - gold at every edition since 1964 except for Munich in 1972 - is unlikely to be broken in Hong Kong in 2008. FEI photoU. S. Eventing Team Sits 7th after Cross Country - U. S. eventers stood in third place after the dressage phase; however, they dropped to seventh after cross country.  Amy Tryon, riding Mark Hart's Poggio, was the first American on the course but after a fall at fence 10, the pair was eliminated. Neither horse nor rider was injured. Read more>

FEI photoGermany Takes Over at the Top - 08/11/2008 - On a great day for the sport of Eventing, Germany took over at the top of both the team and individual leaderboards after the cross-country phase at the Olympic venue in Beas River, Hong Kong this morning when the Australians lost their grip. Hinrich Romeike is now heading the individual rankings with Marius while fellow-German, Ingrid Klimke, lies close behind in second place with Abraxxas but the Aussies are stalking them, with Megan Jones in third and Clayton Fredericks in fourth. FEI photoAustralians Hold the Whip Hand, but Germany Moves Closer - 08/10/2008 - Germany's Ingrid Klimke produced a sparkling test with Abraxxas to squeeze into third place as the final session of Olympic dressage took place at Sha Tin this morning, but it is the Australian riders who hold the whip hand going into tomorrow's cross-country phase with a firm hold at the top of both the individual and team leaderboards. Lucinda Leads the Way - 08/09/2008 - The equestrian competitions began in Hong Kong only a few hours after the Games of the XIX Olympiad were officially inaugurated during a spectacular Opening Ceremony in Beijing. After the first 25 of the 70 riders taking part in the Eventing competition performed their Dressage test, Lucinda Fredericks aboard the brilliant little mare Headley Britannia is firmly in the lead with 30.40 points. She is followed by husband and Australian fellow team member Clayton on Ben Along Time (37 points). Gina Miles and Mckinlaigh of the United States are third on a personal best of 39.30. Read more>

FEI photo"All went extremely well," says Foreign Veterinary Delegate Prof. Leo Jeffcott - 08/11/2008 - Olympic Cross Country day, 11 August 2008, shall certainly be remembered as a day of spectacular success, which was brought by years of in-depth preparation, planning and results, but also helped by luck. "We were lucky with the weather," Foreign Veterinary Delegate Prof. Leo Jeffcott, who has spent three years monitoring the climatic conditions in cooperation with the Hong Kong Observatory, said.
